Health Considerations
EDITOR'S NOTE (March 30): The issue of the cell tower proposed for Lower Shore Rd. has been moved to the Zoning Board for further consideration. Anyone who is concerned about the placement of this tower on Lower Shore Rd. should email Jamie Griffin or call her at 609-290-8760.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Because quite a crowd of concerned citzens had amassed at the zoning board meeting, no action was taken by the Planning Board and they will take it up once again at the March 27th meeting. Citizens are encouraged to attend. The Planning Board said they didn't have enough time to address it at this month's meeting. We wonder what would have happened if so many people hadn't shown up.

The Township Committee has been asked to stand beside residents of Lower Shore Road (and everyone in downtown Barnegat) to express to the zoning board serious concerns regarding the placement of a cell tower close to where the Junior Bengals play. One of these residents -- Jamie Griffin -- expresses her concerns very well on the links to the right.

Now that our Twp. Committee is aware of these concerns, they have the opportunity to do the right thing. If the placement of a cell tower negatively affects one family, five families, ten families or hundreds of families, it doesn't matter...it should not be allowed to be built. Surely there is an isolated site somewhere that is more suitable -- especially if the sole reason this tower must be placed in our neighbors' backyard is so the Township can make money. You should not put a price on any resident's health & safety.

Please attend the Planning Board meeting on Tuesday, February 27th at 7:30 pm at Town Hall to learn more about this proposed cell tower. It is unclear what the potential dangers could be. We all need more information -- from those who are making this decision. Click on the links to the right to read Ms. Griffin's research and appeal to residents and the Township.
