AOH Division #2 Supports Our Community

The Men of AOH Div. 2 are not only active in Barnegat, but here they are in Lacey's annual Christmas parade. A great event that showcases Lacey's pride and community spirit during the holiday season.
The Ancient Order of Hibernians Father Duffy Division 2, Ocean County has given back to their community by donating over $20,000 over the past decade. This group not only promotes its proud Irish culture, but also serves the community through supporting St. Mary's Church, Ken's Kitchen, scholarship programs, disabled veterans, and handicapped children.

The Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) is the oldest Catholic lay organization in America, officially formed in 1836. Each year Division 2 holds its annual Irish Heritage Celebration. They sponsor a beautiful Irish-language mass at St. Mary's Church on Bay Avenue, Barnegat NJ. Each year over 150 people enjoy bagpipers and readings in Gaelic as Father Harry Cullen and Father Ken Tuzeneu perform the service. Afterwards, a St. Patrick's Dinner Dance is held at the Parish Center in Manahawkin featuring live Irish music, food and fun.

It's groups like this that make Barnegat special. These men volunteer countless hours each year to support our neighbors and those who are less fortunate. This past year, they made a sizeable donation to bring relief to victims of Hurricane Katrina. Their selfless actions help so many and we as a community in Barnegat should in turn support them. We can show this support in two ways: attending the annual Dinner Dance in March (more about that as the event approaches), and by joining the group. Membership is open to all men with any Irish ancestry in good standing with the Roman Catholic Church. Jim McSorley, President of Division 2, said "We are always looking for new members. We are an active group that does a lot in our community, and we have a good time while doing it." To join in Ocean County, please contact Jim McSorley at 609-660-0799.
